It's a love story, and Taylor Swift said yes.
The music superstar and three-time Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce has announced that they're engaged to be married, delighting fans around the world. They shared a joint post on Instagram captioned with "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
The mega-famous couple shared a five-photo carousel of Swift and Kelce, both 35, surrounded by flowers with Travis on one knee. While there's no word on when the nuptials will take place, well wishes started pouring in from the worlds of music and sports.
Swift and Kelce's Instagram post announcing their engagement featured a close-up shot of the singer's engagement ring which was created by Kindred Lubeck with Artifex Fine Jewelry. It's an old mine brilliant cut, with a gold band that matched the Cartier watch Swift also wore in the photos.
The exciting update comes after about two years of dating, with Travis first professing his crush on Swift during a 2023 episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. At the time, he told fans about his disappointment that he’d been unable to slip the 14-time Grammy winner a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of her Eras Tour shows in Kansas City that year. Shortly after that episode was posted, Swift attended her first-ever Kansas City Chiefs game though many believed they were witnessing Kelce and Swift’s first date when she pulled up to the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears in September 2023, the pair were actually already comfortably settled into their relationship at that point. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” Swift added. “We would never be psychotic enough to launch a first date.” In the two years that followed, the musician would become a fixture at the tight end’s home games at Arrowhead Stadium — where she often shares a box suite with his parents, Donna and Ed — and he would attend several of her concerts before the Eras trek wrapped in December 2024.
And in a full-circle moment earlier this month, Swift joined Travis on New Heights, where she shared her side of how she first fell in love with the football player (in addition to revealing details about her upcoming album “The Life of a Showgirl”. “It felt more like I was in an ’80s John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with a boombox saying, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?’” the hitmaker reflected on the podcast of Travis’ bold first move. “I was like, ‘If this guy’s not crazy, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”
