50 Cent Says Diddy’s Sons Almost Joined Sean Combs: The Reckoning Docuseries
50 Cent has revealed that two of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sons were close to participating in the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, but ultimately none of the music mogul’s children appeared in the project.
The rapper and television producer, who covers the latest issue of Us Weekly (Dec. 9), said he had direct conversations with Diddy’s son about contributing to the series to share their side of the story.
“I had communications with his son. There was a point when they were interested in being a part of the doc because they wanted to show their perspective,” 50 Cent told the magazine. “They were concerned about how [things] would be portrayed.”
Although 50 Cent and Diddy have had a long-running rivalry, the G-Unit founder noted that he has previously cast two of Combs’ sons, Justin and Quincy in his television projects.
Despite the absence of family voices, The Reckoning has generated major public response. According to Deadline, the four-part docuseries garnered 21.8 million views in its first week on Netflix after its December release.
Ahead of the premiere, Combs’ legal team issued a cease-and-desist letter to Netflix on Dec. 1, criticizing the documentary as a “shameful hit piece” that took “private footage out of context.” Netflix denied the allegations.
Although he produced the series, 50 Cent said he has not communicated with Diddy since the Bad Boy founder’s arrest on federal charges in September 2024.
All six of Combs’ children delivered statements during his sentencing. While Diddy was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges, he was convicted of violating federal prostitution laws. Quincy, speaking on behalf of the family, told the court that their father had undergone significant change.
“We’re going to love him unconditionally through his struggles,” Quincy said. “But in front of you and in front of us is a changed man. Week after week, we’ve seen him evolve, something we haven’t seen in 15 years. He’s completely transformed.”
Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison in October, with credit for time served. Reacting to the split verdict, 50 Cent called the outcome “luck.”
“That was luck,” he told Us Weekly. “He beat the case [but people] don’t understand why he was [crying] on a chair, right? His finances are dwindling. [He] should have filed for bankruptcy. [And] he thought he was coming home. His attorneys… convinced him he was going to come home when he went to court, he had already booked public speaking engagements.
